MOT Testing Centres

Designed with this regulatory arm of the automotive sector in mind, TAC–Scan delivers fast, laser precise measurements of tyre tread depth to an accuracy of 0.1mm. Originally designed by RL Automotive to enable Formula One racing teams to pick up tyre wear well before the human eye could detect it, the TAC-Scan technology has now been redesigned for versatile, mass market use whilst retaining all the accuracy and reliability demanded by the motor racing world.

Standardised, reliable measurements can now be produced for MOT customers, stored for future reference or data analysis and even used as legally admissible evidence if required. MOT Centres can also use the information to advise customers on future action, thereby gaining sales and increased customer confidence through quantifiable, pro-active marketing.

Once a vehicle´s tyre tread depths and alignment issues are recorded by TAC–Scan´s rapid laser scan, you can either print an immediate report from the thermal printer on the scanner itself – if, for instance, you wish to prove illegal tread depth before completing the MOT – or you can upload the data to a computer via a USB memory stick. After this the TAC-Scan Diagnostic Software allows you to create and print a full colour, easy to read, wheel–by–wheel report for reliable MOT evidence of tyre condition. Of course, if your business works beyond MOT inspections you will also find that the versatile software can be customised to suit your other business needs – anything from full Fleet Audits through to individual wheel or vehicle reports can be printed out for you or your customers and collated data can be used for multipule business applications.

 
 

Step 1 Input vehicle ID or access it from TAC–Scan memory

Step 2 Position TAC–Scan against a tyre. Records tread depths across the tyre in under 5 seconds and then, if you want, add other tyre details such as inflation pressure, possible sidewall or crown damage.

Step 3 After measuring the 4 tyres, an immediate report can be printed from the TAC-Scan´s thermal printer.

Step 4 At any time, the data captured can be taken from TAC–Scan using a USB memory stick. Or you can wait until the end of day to transfer all the data. The TAC–Scan can hold details on 250 vehicles at any one time.

Step 5 Once data is uploaded into a PC, it can be used for multiple report types; wheel by wheel, vehicle by vehicle or by entire Fleet. Data can then be stored and used for future analysis and planning.
